VLM Birfday trip on Thames barge Greta... 15th June 2008
Beautiful blue skies and dead flat seas.
Bits o boat.
Various bits of Whitstable, Tankerton and Sheppey
Um, a stray ball.
Reculver towers and the Herne Bay water tower
One way of burning a lot of diesel in comfort...
Alfie on the scrounge.
Big stuff heading up the Thames estuary.
Red Sands forts. Probably come up OK with a bit of T-cut?
Would have felt somewhat exposed sitting in these, ideal for naval target practice, and an easy shot from the air too !!!
Er, pretty clouds and water
Shivering Sands and the knock John tower in the distance.
More pics of windmills than you can shake a stick at.
Herne Bay and Reculver towers in the background...
Richborough power station and Reculver towers
FISH !!! - Alfie was quite interested!.
Ooo a seal - wiv a fish!
More Tankerton, Herne Bay, Whitstable
Just as we were getting close to the end of the trip, about a mile out from Whitstable harbour, we saw the Battle of Britain Flight heading towards us, low over the sea from Thanet.
Then it got better, because they banked into a gentle formation turn and circled the barge before heading off again !!! (Which was nice!)
Returning to the harbour, it was all a bit more cloudy than the stunning sunny day we had had at sea.
